The Light We're Bringing Into The World

Updated: May 19

Every project has a moment where it becomes bigger than the idea that started it. When we first announced that we were building this awareness‑driven performance hoodie line, we talked about creating lightweight, breathable, protective pieces — gear designed to bring comfort and visibility to people who carry conditions the world doesn’t always see. At the time, we called them Sun Hoodies because the inspiration came from light, warmth, and the idea of stepping into something brighter. But as we’ve continued shaping this project, something became clear: these hoodies aren’t tied to a season. They’re tied to the people who will wear them.

The community we’re building for doesn’t live in one season — and neither should the gear. Chronic illness doesn’t pause in winter. Rare disease doesn’t wait for summer. Heart conditions don’t care if it’s cloudy. The challenges people carry move with them through every month, every temperature, every moment. And the pieces we’re creating are designed to move with them. So while the name Sun Hoodie came from the idea of light, the meaning behind these hoodies goes far beyond weather. They’re built to be all‑season, all‑condition, all‑journey pieces — worn in the heat, the cold, the hospital, the gym, the car, the couch, and everywhere in between. These aren’t summer items. They’re identity pieces.

And now, we’re getting ready to show the world what we’ve been building. Over the next stretch, we’ll be releasing the first wave of designs — Mitochondrial Disease, Rare Disease, Heart Disease, and Cancer. Each one carries its own meaning, its own story, its own emotional weight. These aren’t graphics. They’re statements. To bring people into the process, Judi and I will also be recording short 20–30 second PR videos — simple, honest, real. Just us, sharing why we’re doing this, what each design represents, and what we hope these pieces will mean to the people who wear them. These videos will live across all our platforms and will help set the tone for everything that comes next. This isn’t just apparel. It’s a mission taking shape in real time.

So yes — we started by calling them Sun Hoodies. But what we’re building is bigger than a name. We’re building pieces that represent visibility. Pieces that represent strength. Pieces that represent the light people fight for every day — whether it’s July or January. This is the beginning of something we’re proud of. This is the journey we’re inviting people into. This is the light we’re bringing into the world.
