Why We Created the MediXo Performance Hoodie Series

There are more than 10,000 known rare diseases affecting over 30 million people in the United States—about one in every ten people. About half of them are children. Most of these conditions are serious or life‑threatening, and only around 5–10% have an FDA‑approved treatment. Families spend their lives managing what medicine still hasn’t fully caught up to, stitching together care in the space between appointments, between crises, between answers.

MediXo is being built for that space—for the lived reality that doesn’t show up in the charts. And our new performance hoodies are part of that story.

These aren’t just garments. They’re one‑of‑a‑kind, all‑over designs created for communities who almost never see themselves reflected in anything made with intention. Each hoodie is fully sublimated—printed across the entire surface before it’s cut—so the artwork wraps around the body in a way that feels whole, not pieced together. Every panel is placed intentionally, then sewn to spec. Front, back, sleeves, hood: all of it is part of the story.

They’re also built to perform. Each hoodie is made with UPF 50 fabric, offering powerful sun protection for families who spend long days in and out of clinics, hospitals, parks, conferences, and everyday life. These are not blanks with a logo. They’re engineered pieces designed for movement, comfort, and visibility.

We started with Rare Disease and Mitochondrial Disease because those communities live in some of the deepest care gaps—complex, chronic, often life‑threatening conditions with limited or no approved treatments, long diagnostic journeys, and fragmented support. But this is just the beginning. Cancer and Heart Disease designs are coming next, with more conditions to follow. The goal is simple and ambitious at the same time: to build a performance hoodie series that shows up for everyone’s health, not just the conditions that get the most attention.

For us, these hoodies are about identity and recognition. They’re for the families who do the 24/7 work that never gets coded in the EMR—tracking symptoms, spotting patterns, making decisions in the dark, holding life together when the system is slow to respond. They’re for the people who sit in waiting rooms, infusion chairs, ICU corridors, and kitchen tables, trying to make sense of what’s happening and what to do next. Wearing one is a way of saying: “This is part of my story. I’m still here. I’m not invisible.”
